Woodstock Hydro has been supplying electricity to businesses and citizens in Woodstock since 1888. Evolving over decades of reliable service, Woodstock Hydro reached its current structure in 2000 when it officially became a combination of three new companies: Woodstock Hydro Services Inc., Woodstock InfoEnergy Inc. and Woodstock Hydro Holdings Inc.
Woodstock Hydro has a strong reputation of industry leadership. A good example of this is its move toward pre-paid residential electricity. This system is currently used by 25 % of the utility's residential customers and has received international attention because of its ability to reduce energy consumption of 10% - 20% and cut costs for both the consumer and the utility.
Woodstock Hydro has supplied automated switchgear devices to large industrial customer locations to provide better reliability when there is a loss of power.
